If we judged ourselves rightly.
1 Corinthians 11:31-32, But if we judged ourselves rightly, we should not be judged. But when we are judged, we are disciplined by the Lord in order that we may not be condemned along with the world.
Judgment and discipline seem to be undervalued in our culture. We have all benefited immensely from both, especially in the cross. Jesus set His face like a flint in a disciplined walk from Galilee to Jerusalem, knowing what awaited Him. He went ahead in faithfulness, despite His trusted friends failing to stay awake with Him for even an hour in His greatest struggle. He could have called ten thousand angels to rescue Him from the scourging, beating, cross carrying, crucifixion and horrific death. He did it all to satisfy the judgment of God about sin and to set us free from its power!
Help us to judge ourselves rightly, Lord; give us the grace to accept and even to flourish as a result of Your divine discipline.
