Welcoming all who came to him.
Acts 28:28-31, “Let it be known to you therefore, that this salvation of God has been sent to the Gentiles; they will also listen.” And when he had spoken these words, the Jews departed, having a great dispute among themselves. And he stayed two full years in his own rented quarters, and was welcoming all who came to him, preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching concerning the Lord Jesus Christ with all openness, unhindered.
Paul’s own people rejected the good news of Jesus Christ; but he was not discouraged. How often do we allow ourselves to be discouraged by rejection? It’s not we who are being rejected, but the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Are we ready to welcome all who come to us, sharing His good news with them? As one of my teachers said, when we pray “Whosoever will,” we must be ready to receive whomever He sends us.
Give us Your grace to receive freely those whom You send us, allowing Your Holy Spirit to bring conviction of sin, and Your grace to abound as it has with us.
