He took bread and gave thanks to God in the presence of all.

Acts 27:33-36, And until the day was about to dawn, Paul was encouraging them all to take some food, saying, “Today is the fourteenth day that you have been constantly watching and going without eating, having taken nothing. Therefore I encourage you to take some food, for this is for your preservation; for not a hair from the head of any of you shall perish.” And having said this, he took bread and gave thanks to God in the presence of all; and he broke it and began to eat. And all of them were encouraged, and they themselves also took food.

Having disregarded Paul’s advice, they all are listening intently to him as all of their lives are at stake. There was only one way for them to be saved, and they had to stay together on the ship and work together. Paul’s divine protection came from many directions, a favorable wind, experienced sailors and a centurion who acted to prevent the soldiers from killing all the prisoners. What amazing provision He gives us!

We thank You that You have given us Jesus Christ, the way, the truth and the life and that by faith in Him and Him alone we are all saved!
