No accusation deserving death or imprisonment.
Acts 23:28, “And wanting to ascertain the charge for which they were accusing him, I brought him down to their Council; and I found him to be accused over questions about their Law, but under no accusation deserving death or imprisonment. And when I was informed that there would be a plot against the man, I sent him to you at once, also instructing his accusers to bring charges against him before you.”
We see this pattern starting with Jesus, charges brought, false witnesses produced, wrongful imprisonment, ultimately death. There are those that would say that coming to know Jesus means the end of problems and unlimited prosperity. Unfortunately, that just doesn’t line up with Scripture. All but one of the Apostles, including Paul, was martyred refusing upon penalty of death to recant his belief that Jesus is the Son of God and that He is who He says He is. Only one, the Apostle John, died of old age but while in prison for his faith. Are we willing to follow Jesus no matter the consequences?
Give us courage and boldness to follow You.
