Mercy triumphs over judgment.

James 2:10-13, For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all. For He who said, “DO NOT COMMIT ADULTERY,” also said, “DO NOT COMMIT MURDER.” Now if you do not commit adultery, but do commit murder, you have become a transgressor of the law. So speak and so act, as those who are to be judged by the law of liberty. For judgment will be merciless to one who has shown no mercy; mercy triumphs over judgment.

The law of liberty tells us to treat others as we wish to be treated, recognizing that it is by His grace alone that we are saved, and that when we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. When confronted by injustice in others do we become critical? Jesus’ disciples wanted to know if they should call for fire from heaven! Or do we intercede before His throne of grace on their behalf as did Christ on the cross: “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do?”

Open our eyes to see Your great mercy towards us that we who have been forgiven much may love You all the more, Lord.
