Turn from these vain things to a living God.
Acts 14:15b-17, “We are also men of the same nature as you, and preach the gospel to you in order that you should turn from these vain things to a living God, WHO MADE THE HEAVEN AND THE EARTH AND THE SEA, AND ALL THAT IS IN THEM. And in the generations gone by He permitted all the nations to go their own ways; and yet He did not leave Himself without witness, in that He did good and gave you rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, satisfying your hearts with food and gladness.”
Indeed, the more we know about this marvelous universe, from the faint blue galaxies to the inner irreducible complexity of mechanisms in the cells that make up our bodies, His hand can be seen. If it was true that the nations went their own ways in Paul’s day, it is even more true today. We take life and the abundance of nature for granted; it is really His amazing grace.
We thank You that the sun shines and the rain falls on evil as well as good; thank You for Your amazing grace in the good news of Jesus Christ!
