To make Him king.
John 6:14-15, When therefore the people saw the sign which He had performed, they said, “This is of a truth the Prophet who is to come into the world.” Jesus therefore perceiving that they were intending to come and take Him by force, to make Him king, withdrew again to the mountain by Himself alone.
It seems that there are still those today seeking to use Him, to “make Him king,” for their own purposes. The people of that day saw the food multiplied, the many signs and wonders and the possibility to rid their nation of foreign control. Do we look to Him only for what He can provide in this life? Or do we look to Him offering all that we have, asking Him for direction?
Lord, lift my eyes above the urgent, the immediate to Your eternal values; show me Your way that I should walk in it.
