Not knowing about God’s righteousness.
Romans 10:1-3, Brethren, my heart’s desire and my prayer to God for them is for their salvation. For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not in accordance with knowledge. For not knowing about God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God.
Paul’s observation about his own countrymen certainly applies to many today who seek to justify themselves in their own righteousness. It’s humiliating to accept the truth of the gospel, admitting that I am incapable of being the righteousness of God. But at once the good news comes, that through the cross and the resurrection we have the security that Jesus Christ has done what no man could ever do. May we be faithful in prayer for those that do not know them, that God would be pleased to open their eyes!
Use me in prayer, in witness with word, thought and deed in sharing Your good news with others, Lord!
