I lay it down on My own initiative.
John 10:17-18, “For this reason the Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. No one has taken it away from Me, but I lay it down on My own initiative. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This commandment I received from My Father.”
Some think that Jesus was a martyr, others that He was murdered. He makes it clear that He had set His face like a flint towards Jerusalem, to fulfill all that the Father planned; that “for the joy set before Him,” He went to the cross. Those who are forgiven much love that much more!
We thank You for all You have done; that we who deserve nothing receive everything by Your great sacrifice on the cross.
