The gall of bitterness.

Acts 8:23-24, “For I see that you are in the gall of bitterness and in the bondage of iniquity.” But Simon answered and said, “Pray to the Lord for me yourselves, so that nothing of what you have said may come upon me.”

How often do I come to God seeking a commercial transaction as did Simon? He thought he could purchase the gifts of God, not realizing that the price has already been paid on the cross by the Lord Jesus Christ. And how often do I rejecte the conviction of the Holy Spirit, playing the part of the fool mentioned in Proverbs, “Do not reprove a scoffer, lest he hate you, Reprove a wise man and he will love you.” Simon was brought to the end of himself and he wisely placed himself at the mercy of God through the intercession of Peter.

Show me where I need to be released from the gall of bitterness and the bondage of iniquity; thank You for Your marvelous grace that can supply all of my needs!
