In sanctification.

1 Thessalonians 4:7-8, For God has not called us for the purpose of impurity, but in sanctification. Consequently, he who rejects this is not rejecting man but the God who gives His Holy Spirit to you.

Paul urges believers to walk in the light, and to “excel still more” in two areas: sexual purity and love for others. It is good to be reminded that God takes our sexual purity seriously, “because the Lord is the avenger in all these things.” Last night, I allowed myself to get sucked into a situation where were having dinner that seriously embarrassed my wife. My own blindness was evident because I didn’t have a clue until I realized how upset she was. By His grace, she was able to tell me what I had done. Our pastor has been very clear about breaking the power of generational sin, and bringing it to the foot of the cross; I want that for our family, I want this one to die with me. Our culture makes this especially difficult for us men. By His great mercy, He offers us help at every moment by His Holy Spirit!

Lord, I need Your help every moment; fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Remove the scales from my eyes so that I can recognize the instant I am beginning to turn away from You!
