Reviled for the name of Christ.

1 Peter 4:14, If you are reviled for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.

In confronting my friend, I knew that there is the risk that I will be added to his trash talking list. Being reviled by a bitter, angry person doesn’t really seem to fit Peter’s description of a “fiery trial.” We have so little in the way of any real trials, it makes me wonder if we are really up to it. Then comes the reminder: it is not by my own power and might but by His Spirit!

We know that we need Your help in times of struggle; perhaps we need it even more now, “Breathe on me O Breath of God!”
