Brotherly kindness, love.
2 Peter 2:5-8, Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge; and in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness; and in your godliness, brotherly kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they render you neither useless nor unfruitful in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Peter presents us with this challenge, to move from faith (even the demons believe and tremble) to our very highest calling, that of love. The love that we are called to is the same as that of the Father, who seeing us in our hopeless, fallen, indebted position, did not abandon us but sent us His only Son, to raise us up into His perfection. We are called to this highest form of love, to love others even when they turn away, even when they do not return our love. We don't have the power to love like this on our own, we need His strength!
Lord, You call us to love even our enemies; help us to love even those who reject our love to bring glory to Your name! "Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors."
