Whoever receives one child.

Mark 9:36-37, And taking a child, He set him before them, and taking him in His arms, He said to them, "Whoever receives one child like this in My name receives Me; and whoever receives Me does not receive Me, but Him who sent Me."

We read in the passage right before this that His disciples did not understand what Jesus was telling them about His impending death and resurrection, and that they were afraid to ask Him about it. Children have an amazing ability to ask questions that are open and honest because they are trying to learn, not because they are trying to embarrass someone! Can we have this same child-like quality with the Lord, where we are willing to ask Him anything, or do we imagine that we already know enough? Are we ready to learn from Him?

Give us the child-like wonder of coming into Your presence, know that we can ask anything without fear!
