He Himself was tempted.

Hebrews 2:11, For assuredly He does not give help to angels, but He gives help to the descendant of Abraham. Therefore, He had to be made like His brethren in all things, that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. For since He Himself was tempted in that which He has suffered, He is able to come to the aid of those who are tempted.

This is very encouraging, for He became as one of us in order to be merciful towards us. No matter what temptation we might face, we can be certain that He has been there. Even better, this has prepared Him to come to our aid when we are in need! When we face temptation, we can know for certain that He was tempted, and that He is able to come to our aid.

Help me to remember this when faced with temptation, that You are ready to give me the strength to overcome!
