Perfected in suffering.

Hebrews 2:9-10, But we do see Him who has been made for a little while lower than the angels, namely, Jesus, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone. For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things, and through whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to perfect the author of their salvation through sufferings.

The idea of a suffering savior was not accepted in Jesus day. In our "feel good" culture, the idea of suffering is completely foreign. He endured the cross because of what was on the other side, because in so doing He tasted death once for all of us. It might be that we are one day subjected to suffering, not a choice that any would gladly make. If it should happen, we can remember what He endured knowing that it will soon pass into glory.

We thank You for all that You suffered to bring us into Your presence.
