Righteousness like the waves of the sea.

Isaiah 48:17-19, Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; "I am the LORD your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you in the way you should go. If only you had paid attention to My commandments! Then your well-being would have been like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea. Your descendants would have been like the sand, and your offspring like its grains; their name would never be cut off or destroyed from My presence."

Of course this was addressed to Israel, but it shows us God’s great plan. We tend to think of "profit" in terms of money or income. He operates in a different currency, that of fruitfulness. He wants to empower us, to bless us, to make us a force for righteousness like that of a great river or the waves of the sea. His desire for us is that we go forth and multiply, that we produce offspring. He wants to bring forth His fruit as never before.

We seek Your wisdom in carrying forth Your great plan; make us fruitful in Your kingdom, O Lord!
