His face was like the face of an angel.

Acts 6:15, And gazing at him, all who sat in the council saw that his face was like the face of an angel.

Stephen was chosen as one of the first deacons, those who would serve the widows being neglected. He was chosen because of his good reputation and also because he was filled with the Holy Spirit. And his testimony of Jesus, with grace and power, caused the religious rulers to target him, to subject him to false accusations, and to lie about what he had said. I know in such a situation, that in my own strength, my face would not look like that of an angel. It’s clear that he was sustained by the Holy Spirit; have I submitted to His Holy Spirit this well?

Fill us with Your Holy Spirit, for we cannot stand like this without You, Lord!
