Philosophy and empty deceit.

Colossians 2:6-10, Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving. See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ. For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority.

Elsewhere we read that there is a way that seems right to a man, but the end thereof is destruction. We easily rationalize situations to make ourselves feel better, but feelings do not necessarily correspond to truth. Our own culture deifies the individual, with the same disastrous results we find in the book of Judges, as “each one did what was right in His own eyes.” Popular wisdom makes self refuting statements like “there is no absolute truth!” Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life and no one comes to the Father but by Him. And we have been filled in Him!

Let Your Spirit fill us to overflowing that Your joy may abound to touch others!
