The Lord said to my Lord.
Luke 20:41-44, But he said to them, “How can they say that the Christ is David’s son? For David himself says in the Book of Psalms, “ ‘The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool.’ David thus calls him Lord, so how is he his son?”
Again the religious leaders have no answer for how it is that Messiah can be both a son of David and the Lord. Jesus is the one who brings it all together, for he is a son of David by his lineage through Mary, and the son of God by his divine conception and virgin birth, the Lord in the flesh, the promised Messiah, King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Do we take the time to stop and consider how amazing it is that the Lord became flesh and lived among us, living as one of us that he might be a compassionate savior, for he himself was tempted as we are yet lived without sin. “Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” How are we running the race set before us today?
We thank you for the cross; we thank you for the gift of your Holy Spirit that we might run well today!
