He wept over it.

Luke 19:41-42, And when he drew near and saw the city, he wept over it, saying, “Would that you, even you, had known on this day the things that make for peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes.

What kind of love is this, that walks willingly toward the horror of the cross, that weeps over those who will soon rise up to cry “Crucify Him!” What love indeed, that looks over the raging insults of the crowd as he suffers on that cross and yet says “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.” The kind of love that see as we are running the race set before us, “looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” Do we keep our eyes on our struggles, or do we look to him who saves us?

We keep our eyes on you, O Lord!
