He purified himself.

Acts 21:26, Then Paul took the men, and the next day he purified himself along with them and went into the temple, giving notice when the days of purification would be fulfilled and the offering presented for each one of them.

Paul shows respect for his own heritage without laying a burden that none of his peers or forefathers could bear upon the Gentile believers. He lives out one of his maxims, to be winsome towards those of his own heritage, giving them no cause for offense. But like our Lord, who had no guile in him, Paul will be falsely accused, imprisoned and ultimately die for his faith. And he went willingly, wishing only to run the race set before him well, to fill up the afflictions of Christ. Are we like minded?

Give us this kind of courage and boldness to go where you lead us even when we don’t know the outcome.
