Encouraging them.

Acts 20:1-2, After the uproar ceased, Paul sent for the disciples, and after encouraging them, he said farewell and departed for Macedonia. When he had gone through those regions and had given them much encouragement, he came to Greece.

We see the third part of Paul’s ministry, he preached the gospel, he planted churches and he followed up by giving them much encouragement. Later when he had to write some difficult letters to the Corinthians, he addresses his first letter “I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that was given you in Christ Jesus” and in his second, encourages them about suffering, “If we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; and if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which you experience when you patiently endure the same sufferings that we suffer.” Today critics abound; how are we doing at encouraging one another?

Keep us sensitive to your Holy Spirit who encourages us daily; “forgive us or trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us!”
