He reasoned.
Acts 17:16-17, Now while Paul was waiting for them at Athens, his spirit was provoked within him as he saw that the city was full of idols. So he reasoned in the synagogue with the Jews and the devout persons, and in the marketplace every day with those who happened to be there.
We see that Paul was provoked within, as we may so be today, about the worship of cold, dead, meaningless idols. We see also that he reasoned with them beginning with the Jews, and on to those seeking God, and then in the marketplace every day. What we don’t see is that he denounced them, but followed the example of Jesus with the woman at the well, he engaged them in reasonable discourse. Are we able to do so in our own pagan culture of today?
We thank you for loving us when we were unlovable; let us love others with your love, engaging them, reasoning with them, praying that you will open their ears and remove scales from their eyes to hear your word and see your glory!
