The Lord is faithful.

2 Thessalonians 3:1-3, Finally, brothers, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may speed ahead and be honored, as happened among you, and that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men. For not all have faith. But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.

Paul faced active, unreasonable opposition to the gospel. His answer was not to seek deliverance from this opposition but to continue knowing that the Lord is faithful. It is he who establishes and guards us no matter what the opposition. We may never face such hostility as he did, but should it come we can depend upon the Lord to be faithful, and to establish and guard us. “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.”

We depend upon you to establish and guard us even in the face of hostile opposition to your good news!
