Because you had become very dear to us.

1 Thessalonians 2:8, So, being affectionately desirous of you, we were ready to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own selves, because you had become very dear to us.

We read of Jesus, that he looked on the people with compassion, as sheep without a shepherd. He is the great Shepherd, and he asks us to go forth in his name. Do we see people as did Paul, with eyes of genuine affection, willing to speak the truth in love? Most of us are not called to risk our lives as did Paul; do we pray for boldness in sharing the good news of Jesus Christ?

Give us compassion to love others well enough to be bold enough to tell them of your amazing good news!
