Beware of the leaven.
Mark 8:14-16, Now they had forgotten to bring bread, and they had only one loaf with them in the boat. And he cautioned them, saying, “Watch out; beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod.” And they began discussing with one another the fact that they had no bread.
Even after seeing the miracles of the loaves feeding multitudes on two separate instances, the disciples were focused on their immediate needs and missing the more important spiritual matter: a little leaven permeates and changes the whole lump of dough! How easy it is for us to focus on the material world, and miss what Jesus wants us to learn! Where is our focus today?
