“It is I; do not be afraid.”

John 6:18-20, The sea became rough because a strong wind was blowing. When they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and coming near the boat, and they were frightened. But he said to them, “It is I; do not be afraid.”

How quick we are to assume the worst, and to think that we have been abandoned. They did not recognize Him, but thought that He was a ghost! When the storms come, are we overcome by fear or by faith? He has promised never to leave us nor to forsake us. He calls to us, “It is I; do not be afraid.” “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”

When the winds and fury of the storm stir up fear, increase our faith: in You we need never be afraid!
