The stripping locust.

Joel 1:1-4, The word of the LORD that came to Joel, the son of Pethuel. Hear this, O elders, and listen, all inhabitants of the land. Has anything like this happened in your days or in your fathers’ days? Tell your sons about it, and let your sons tell their sons, and their sons the next generation. What the gnawing locust has left, the swarming locusthas eaten; and what the swarming locust has left, the creeping locust has eaten; and what the creeping locust has left, the stripping locust has eaten.

Can a nation come under judgment? Joel saw it in his day, when God brought judgment against His chosen nation. The nation that was blessed by the Exodus from slavery and came into the Promised Land also departed from the Lord. They were to be a light to the nations, a city set on a hill to declare the glory of God to the world. Joel calls upon the older people to remember all that God has done and to tell others that they might turn to Him. Could there be any application to our own nation today?

Bring Your revival to our own nation today that we might not forget Your all that You have done for us, Lord!
