Teach me Thy way, O Lord.
Psalm 27:11-14, Teach me Thy way, O Lord, and lead me in a level path, because of my foes. Do not deliver me over to the desire of my adversaries; for false witnesses have risen against me, and such as breathe out violence. I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; yes, wait for the Lord.
Jesus endured the wrath of the cross by the testimony of false witnesses; Paul was stoned, jailed, beaten, whipped and imprisoned on the basis of false witnesses. We should not be surprised in these last days if we endure the same treatment. Peter tells us “If you are reviled for the name of Christ you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. By no means let any of you suffer as a murderer, or thief, or evildoer, or a troublesome meddler; but if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not feel ashamed, but in that name let him glorify God.” In the flesh, we want to defend and protect ourselves and even attack our adversaries. Our Lord Jesus went as a sheep to the slaughter; He opened not His mouth in His own defense. In His strength we need not be overcome by evil: “Do not be overcome by evil; overcome evil with good.”
We thank You that even in troubling times You promise to be with us by the power of Your Holy Spirit. We thank You that vengeance is Yours, that You will repay!
