Thy Law is within my heart.
Psalm 40:1-8, I WAITED patiently for the LORD; and He inclined to me, and heard my cry. He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay; and He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm. And He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God; many will see and fear, and will trust in the LORD. How blessed is the man who has made the LORD his trust, and has not turned to the proud, nor to those who lapse into falsehood. Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders which Thou hast done, and Thy thoughts toward us; there is none to compare with Thee; if I would declare and speak of them, they would be too numerous to count. Sacrifice and meal offering Thou hast not desired; my ears Thou hast opened; burnt offering and sin offering Thou hast not required. Then I said, “Behold, I come; In the scroll of the book it is written of me; I delight to do Thy will, O my God; Thy Law is within my heart.”
We are inviting friends to join us in a prayer and praise session in our yard to lift up the name of Jesus. In this day where darkness is celebrated by so many, what better way is there than to pierce the darkness with His light? Jesus tells us the parable of prayer that we are free to come to Him with “importunity” -- that is, impudence, shamelessness-- as if to a neighbor in the middle of the night asking him for three loaves to feed an unexpected guest. Do we realize that our prayers are of infinite, eternal value to Him? “And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel’s hand.” The psalmist goes on to say that he has not hidden the Law in his heart for he proclaims the lovingkindness of the Lord “in the great congregation.” And scripture encourages us to walk in His presence: “Touch not My anointed, and do my prophets no harm.” “And lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the world.” Let us offer to Him our prayer in a sacrifice of praise!
We do not want to conceal Your lovingkindness and truth in our lives; use us as Your faithful witnesses today in this time when evil seeks to triumph.
