You shall meditate on it day and night.

Joshua 1:8-9, “This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

The mantle of leadership passed from Moses to Joshua, one of the two spies who could see beyond the fear of the ten spies who saw only giants in the land. He saw all that God did as well as all that were there, but he had faith that God would do what He promised, bringing them into the Promised Land. As leader, he was to meditate on the book of the law; we have so much more in scripture than he did! As we meditate on His truth revealed in scripture, we join Joshua in being strong and courageous, that God is with us and that we will have good success in the land He has given us!

We put all of our trust in You, Lord, that we may meditate day and night on Your word that we may be strong and courageous in this land!
