The Lord has done what He purposed.

Lamentations 2:17, The Lord has done what He purposed; He has accomplished His word which He commanded from days of old. He has thrown down without sparing, and He has caused the enemy to rejoice over you; He has exalted the might of your adversaries.

The Lord had sent prophets to warn the people over and over; the people refused to listen preferring false prophets. His judgment, when it finally came to pass after decades of warnings, was indeed harsh. Are we truly seeking to be on God’s side, or naively wanting Him to be on our side?

We pray for revival in our own country, and for the fire of Your good news to cover the earth; use us in Your purposes, Lord.
