Now you shall see.
Exodus 5:22-6:1, Then Moses returned to the LORD and said, “O Lord, why hast Thou brought harm to this people? Why didst Thou ever send me? Ever since I came to Pharaoh to speak in Thy name, he has done harm to this people; and Thou hast not delivered Thy people at all.” Then the LORD said to Moses, “Now you shall see what I will do to Pharaoh; for under compulsion he shall let them go, and under compulsion he shall drive them out of his land.”
Moses requested only that the people be allowed to travel for three days to make sacrifices; Pharaoh’s heart was hardened already and he brought down more work than the people could reasonably be expected to manage, along with severe punishment. In man’s eyes, this is foolishness; in God’s eyes, it is the first step toward the new nation being expelled toward the Promised Land. Do we presume to see where God is taking us with the first step?
We thank You that Your wisdom is above all of man’s wisdom; we want to know You better each day, O Lord.
