They seized Paul and Silas.
Acts 16:19-21, But when her masters saw that their hope of profit was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the market place before the authorities, and when they had brought them to the chief magistrates, they said, “These men are throwing our city into confusion, being Jews, and are proclaiming customs which it is not lawful for us to accept or to observe, being Romans.”
Paul and Silas were willing to proclaim the truth of the gospel to their own peril. Freeing the demon possessed slave girl enraged her owners over their loss of income. And yet God uses even this trial to bring the light of the Gospel into the darkness of a jailer and his family’s life. Most of us don’t even like to be inconvenienced; am I willing to risk anything for the sake of the Gospel?
Give us boldness to proclaim Your name as we keep our eyes on You, Lord Jesus.
