One who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty.

James 1:23-26, For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was. But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man shall be blessed in what he does.

One of my favorite teachers says that we should consider the difference in men and women at the mirror. Men come to a mirror to see if anything is grossly out of place; women come to the mirror to study, to apply changes. When we come to the word, do we see it as a place to study, learn and then apply changes?

Open my eyes as I read Your word, that I may prove myself a doer of Your word, not merely a deluded hearer.
