Among you stands One whom you do not know.

John 1:24-27, Now they had been sent from the Pharisees. And they asked him, and said to him, “Why then are you baptizing, if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?” John answered them saying, “I baptize in water, but among you stands One whom you do not know. “It is He who comes after me, the thong of whose sandal I am not worthy to untie.”

It’s disturbing that those who were considered the most religious people of their day did not recognize Jesus, even after being told by John the Baptist that He was there. Could it be that a self-righteous attitude could be blinding? Might we have our own blind spots to seeing where He is moving today?

We put all of our trust in You, open our eyes to the ways You are moving amongst us today, Lord Jesus.
