He saw the city and wept over it.
Luke 19:41, And when He approached, He saw the city and wept over it, saying, “If you had known in this day, even you, the things which make for peace! But now they have been hidden from your eyes.”
Jesus knew that He was going to the cross, and wept over those who would soon be shouting “Crucify Him.” Even so, He had compassion on them. How easy it is for us to take offense at others who may be ignorant and blinded by the ways of the world; do we have this kind of compassion for our city?
Open the eyes of those who are blind in my city, that they may come to know You; give me Your compassion for them!
