But they kept silent.

Luke 14:3-4, And Jesus answered and spoke to the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath, or not?" But they kept silent. And He took hold of him, and healed him, and sent him away.

How sad that they were watching Him closely, not in awe or anticipation of knowing Him better, but in order to justify themselves. And as soon as He asked them a question, they did not rise up to accuse Him, but kept silence. Are we looking to justify ourselves or to allow Him to speak and show us the way?

Help me to listen for Your still, small voice in every situation today, to be slow to speak and quick to listen, that others may come to know You!
