Fools for Christ's sake.

1 Corinthians 4:9-10, For, I think, God has exhibited us apostles last of all, as men condemned to death; because we have become a spectacle to the world, both to angels and to men. We are fools for Christ's sake, but you are prudent in Christ; we are weak, but you are strong; you are distinguished, but we are without honor.

It's a real trap to present the gospel of Jesus Christ as a solution to all problems, or as some kind of ticket to material prosperity. Paul reminds us that the apostles were not standing around posing as models for stained glass windows; they were in fact "filling up the afflictions of Jesus Christ." If we are not experiencing this, perhaps we are not being bold enough?

Lord, help my unbelief; give my Your boldness and help me to keep the focus on what You have done for us through the cross, that others may come to know You.
