The true light is already shining.

1 John 2:7-8, Beloved, I am not writing a new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you have had from the beginning; the old commandment is the word which you have heard. On the other hand, I am writing a new commandment to you, which is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is passing away, and the true light is already shining.

We know that all the commandments come down to two: love God and love one another. He has given flesh and life to His love for us in Jesus Christ, who did not love His own life and broke the power of sin and death on the cross. He is the light of the world, and He has charged us to carry His light into the world today. The darkness has to flee when His light comes in!
