Be subject to one another in the fear of Christ.
Ephesians 5:18-21, And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord; always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father; and be subject to one another in the fear of Christ.
Most of the time we focus on the beginning of this passage; it’s sometimes interesting to unpack it in reverse. Are we willing to start with being subject to each other in the fear of Christ? Do I really want another person to hear everything I say about Him? And do I really spend more time prayerfully giving thanks than I do complaining? If I did all of this, perhaps that melody of the Spirit might be heard more clearly in my own heart.
Help me to be subject to others and to give thanks at every moment of the day for all You have done and all you are doing!
