A veil lies over their heart.
2 Corinthians 3:15-17, But to this day whenever Moses is read, a veil lies over their heart; but whenever a man turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
I meet with a few friends for an early morning study at a local restaurant. A few weeks ago, the manager had made a comment to me just as we were leaving, and I stopped and talked with him for a while about some spiritual matters. I got the idea that some past experiences with religion had caused him some real pain, and I offered to leave him a copy of the book we are studying (“A Life Well Lived,” Tommy Nelson’s wonderful study of Ecclesiastes). He said he didn’t have much time to read, but liked to listen to tapes. One of the other guys brought in the tape series, and I left it with him last week. This week we had our study, and just as I was about to leave one of the waitresses asked if I had talked to the manger, and I saw him heading out of the office in a big hurry! He was quite upset and kept saying “That’s just not me,” over and over! I was really amazed at the scene he was causing in his own restaurant and I just smiled and asked which one he listened to, but he wasn’t listening, he just handed the tapes back to me. It will be interesting to see what develops out of that encounter next week!
Help us to be intercessors for those who are blinded by the god of this world!

A quick question. Are you one of those Christians who believe that Jesus would be OK with capital punishment? Just curious.
Hey, Roger, thanks for the great question.
Let's look at what Jesus said Himself in John 8:1-11, regarding the woman caught in adultery, an offense punishable by stoning. Jesus said “He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.”
Of course one might also consider this in light of the warning He gave about the hypocrisy of the Pharisees in Luke 12:4-5, “And I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will warn you whom to fear: fear the One who after He has killed has authority to cast into hell; yes, I tell you, fear Him!"
That's the ultimate capital punishmet. Back to your question, He has provided the ultimate escape: His own perfect sacrifice. John 1:12, "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God."
He has died so that we might live!
