Lot chose for himself.

Genesis 13:10-11a, And Lot lifted up his eyes and saw all the valley of the Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere—this was before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah—like the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt as you go to Zoar. So Lot chose for himself all the valley of the Jordan; and Lot journeyed eastward.

Lot chose what looked to be the best for himself, yet God blessed Abram by giving the whole land to him and his descendants. What looks to be the best might not always be what it appears to be. Are we seeking the Lord’s guidance, for the best by His standards in all that we do?

Give us pause to seek out the best by Your standards, O Lord.
