"I am the bread of life."

John 6:48-51, "I am the bread of life. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. This is the bread which comes down out of heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die. I am the living bread that came down out of heaven; if anyone eats of this bread, he shall live forever; and the bread also which I shall give for the life of the world is My flesh."

We know that the manna had to be gathered every morning, and that it could not be saved until the next day. In our own time we miss the point of daily bread, because it is not baked fresh daily. When I worked in France, there was nothing better than to go to the small shop where the baguettes were baked daily and get a fresh one just out of the oven—even by that afternoon it just wasn’t the same. He who is the bread of life offers Himself to us as our daily bread, "every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God."

We thank You for our daily bread, Your word that nourishes us daily!
