Mark 9:49-50, "For everyone will be salted with fire. Salt is good; but if the salt becomes unsalty, with what will you make it salty again? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another."
Jesus writes of serious matters, of the responsibility we have towards one of His little ones, and ourselves. The consequences of stumbling are so dire that He compares it to loss of a limb or even an eye; obviously He wants us to pay attention. Stumbling is something that we do when we are in the dark; fortunately we do have His light. We also have the promise that while John came baptizing with water, Jesus would baptize us with the Holy Spirit and with fire. He is always ready to make us salt and light where we are today by the power of His Holy Spirit!
Come, Holy Spirit, make us salt and light where we are; keep us from stumbling in the dark!
