Everlasting desolation.

Jeremiah 25:12, 'Then it will be when seventy years are completed I will punish the king of Babylon and that nation,' declares the Lord, 'for their iniquity, and the land of the Chaldeans; and I will make it an everlasting desolation.'

The Lord made it clear when He brought the nation of Israel into the Promised Land that He was giving them the land not because of their own superior righteousness but because of the evil being done there. Now, He uses an evil empire to bring His justice upon His own chosen people, but clearly their turn would come. These things are hard to understand, but only because His wisdom is so far above our wisdom, truly His ways are not our ways. We know that all of His plans will bring glory to His name.

We stand in awe of Your plans that bring glory to Your name!
