Wonderously marvelous!

Isaiah 29:13-14, Then the Lord said, “Because this people draw near with their words and honor Me with their lip service, but they remove their hearts far from Me, and their reverence for Me consists of tradition learned by rote, therefore behold, I will once again deal marvelously with this people, wondrously marvelous; and the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the discernment of their discerning men shall be concealed.”

Man’s wisdom would make this read differently, something like “Because this people remove their hearts from me … therefore I shall smite them!” God’s wisdom is to come after us Himself, to send His only begotten Son because He loved the world. The wisdom of the world could not comprehend Him, and even now we must stand before the cross in amazement at what He has done for us. Truly, man’s best wisdom is indeed foolish before God.
