Is the ax to boast itself over the one who chops with it?

Isaiah 10:12, So it will be that when the Lord has completed all His work on Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, He will say, “I will punish the fruit of the arrogant heart of the king of Assyria and the pomp of his haughtiness.”

The Lord used the evil nation to accomplish His purposes as we would use an ax or a saw to shape wood to our own designs. His purpose is sovereign, even above those who declare themselves sovereign! There are many today who claim to be in charge of their own universe, but it seems that before the living God their universe is rather small. This has to encourage us to do the best that we can, to be salt and light where He has placed us! For if He is able to use even the godless nations, how much more might He be able to use us who are called according to His will?
