A harvest of righteousness and peace.

Isaiah 1:27, Zion will be redeemed with justice, and her repentant ones with righteousness.

These are hard readings, for with them we see that while God is longsuffering, "not wishing that any should perish," He is also just. His justice is seen here as purification, as in using a caustic lye and a hot fire to purge metal of impurities. We are not to be "surprised at the fiery ordeal among you," but to join with Paul who counted it a blessing to fill up the sufferings of Christ. Indeed, "no discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful." But He promises us a harvest of righteousness and peace when we submit to Him.

Let us not lose heart in doing good, looking for Your harvest of righteousness and peace in due time, O Lord!
